Dear Professor,

You wrote this once to me a very long time ago... but this still stands on AntWiki:

"His older Synopsis of the Formicidae (Date: 2014-09-05) is now out of date, but is available for historical reasons." https://www.antwiki.org/wiki/Species_Accounts

So, maybe he still likes the old Synopsis....

Hi Teleutotje,

Perhaps I misunderstand something? - Of course, I had hoped that Barry Bolton would stick to his older revision. But alas, he has updated his catalogue already years ago.
The „history“ here reveals that at least since 2016 the catalogue lists e.g. Tetramorium inquilinum as replacement name for Teleutomyrmex schneideri, and Temnothorax adlerzi for Myrmoxenus adlerzi, as Ward et al. 2015 have decided. Poor students who have to pick out the parasitic species among the hundreds of independent Tetramorium or Temnothorax species.

Best wishesd,
Merkur

Now Professor,

It says something that he keeps this version from before the Ward article. All the other versions before and after this one are gone, scrambled... So, it must mean something for him....

And if I am wrong, so be it...

But it is still funny that Tetramorium and Strongylognathus still stand along each other. Yes...

Yours, T.
